My Little Town

Abstract: The subject of this paper is the tram transport in Niš which functioned without interruption between November 16, 1930 and August 10, 1958. The paper was based on the press reports from the 1920s and 1930s and from 1958, the relevant literature and oral testimonies. It depicts the urban and economic development of Niš immediately before the tram transportation started operating and throughout its functioning.

Abstract: This paper examines the influence of the WWII on the first names of people registered in the birth registers of the Savski Venac municipality between January 1, 1935 and June 28, 1948. The changes in frequency of names were observed on sample of 7.496 male and 7.000 female first names.

Abstract: The paper deals with the first steam mill Ignjat Bajloni and Sons since its foundation in 1861 by the well-known industrial family. The paper depicts chronologically the operation and the importance of this mill for the development of this area until the WWII. The data for this paper stem chiefly from the manuscript by Zoran Đorđević and from the non-classified holding The Ignjat Bajloni and Sons Mill in Mali Crnić in the Historical Archives in Požarevac. An interview with Živojin Živanović, former employee of the mill was also made.
